Form 2D

In 2022, Formlabs launched their next dimension in desktop printing. The Form 2D took our years of expertise in the world of 3D printing, and applied it to desktop document printing.

I worked across the organization to make this ambitious prank a reality. I teamed up with the industrial design team to build a prototype, designed consistent product messaging to make sure our joke landed, and even wrote the script for the video featured below.

The Form 2D was featured in CNET’s April Fools’ compilation of the “funniest, goofiest entries for 2022,” as well as TechCrunch’s roundup of the “top five least cringe April Fools’ Day jokes this year.”

Sounds Of The Print Farm

In 2021, Formlabs released two albums. Sounds Of The Print Farm: Volume 1 is an ambient album recorded at our print farm in Somerville, Massachusetts that brought the sounds of 3D printing at scale to your headphones.

We also released the companion album (Remixed) Sounds Of The Print Farm. This brief EP features four tracks mixed by Formlabs employees. We made the raw recordings available so anybody within the company could get involved with our April Fools’ prank.
